Brisbane-headquartered Graphene Manufacturing Group has achieved its largest-ever single sale of THERMAL-XR (TXR) powered by GMG Graphene for a “large Australian eco-friendly resort for the coating of approximately 200 air conditioners,” as announced in a press release.

TXR is a coating that is used to increase the conductivity of corroded heat exchange surfaces and to keep new units performing at peak levels, according to GMG.

In order to purchase and resell THERMAL-XR for the Heating, Venting and Air-Conditioning-Refrigeration (HVAC-R) market in the major demand centres of North America and Asia Pacific, GMG said it continues to move forward and negotiate distributor agreements.

In particular, the company revealed that distributor talks with a well-known national American distributor are progressing with the goal of quickly moving to major sales.

To date, the total accessible market for THERMAL-XR is expected to be more than USD 28.4 billion, with the potential to grow as additional heat exchangers are required for cooling space as well as other industrial and energy production applications.

In addition to the said updates, a big wholesale retail chain in Thailand with around 200 locations has requested that a potential distributor further demonstrate THERMAL-XR at a number of sites before rolling it out across the nation.

Following TXR’s expanding commercial success in HVAC applications, the company said it is stepping up efforts to demonstrate heat management benefits in additional areas.

Data centres and energy generators are recent examples, GMG revealed.

Meanwhile, additional THERMAL-XR sales and third-party service projects have occurred in Southeast Asia – with applications in the data centre cooling sector representing a significant opportunity.

This also comes as the IEA estimates it represents up to 1.3 per cent of global electricity demand, representing an addressable market of approximately USD 2 billion in potential THERMAL-XR sales globally.

GMG’s Managing Director and CEO Craig Nicol expressed his excitement over how THERMAL-XR is being favoured in various channels and applications.

“We are very excited to see the reception we are seeing with THERMAL-XR in various channels and applications, including HVAC-R direct for larger business customers, HVAC-R distributors in various countries, data centres and various energy producers,” Nicol noted.

Founded in 2016, GMG produces graphene and hydrogen by cracking methane (natural gas) instead of mining graphite.

By using a proprietary process, GMG can produce scalable, ‘tuneable’ and no or low contaminant graphene in clean-tech applications.

The company said it is also pursuing opportunities for GMG graphene-enhanced products, including developing next-generation batteries.
