The South Australian Government and Coca-Cola Amatil have agreed to create a $4000 support package for around 180 workers affected by the closure of the company’s bottling plant in Thebarton.
The State Government and Coca-Cola are jointly funding $2500 in career and training support for eligible workers, with the South Australian Government contributing $1500 for training and career services, and Coca-Cola contributing $1000 for each worker for re-training.
Employment Minister Kyam Maher said the support package will provide workers with access to career advice, funded training, financial advice and health and wellbeing services.
“The State Government’s top priority is to support affected workers and eligible supply chain workers. We are working closely with Coca-Cola and United Voice to make sure workers have every opportunity to access career advice, funded training, financial advice and health and wellbeing services,” the Minister said.
“This support is available as of today and I encourage all affected workers to call 1800 506 266 to access a career advisor.”
Coca Cola Amatil said the existing sales, distribution, warehousing, equipment servicing and Statewide Recycling teams in the state will not be affected by the changes.
