The Federal Government is backing Australian manufacturers with $800 million in funding to encourage collaboration on major job-creating projects as part of the $1.5 billion Modern Manufacturing Strategy.
Program guidelines for the $800 million Collaboration Stream of the Modern Manufacturing Initiative were published Wednesday, with co-funding grants of between $20 million and $200 million to support large projects that foster collaboration and build economies of scale for Australian manufacturing.
Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Christian Porter said the Collaboration Stream – the largest grant program under the $1.3 billion Modern Manufacturing Initiative – will support business-to-business and business-to-research collaboration across the Government’s six National Manufacturing Priority areas – medical products, clean energy and recycling, food and beverage, defence, space and resource technology and critical minerals.
“Australians know that strong, successful manufacturing businesses make for a stronger country. We want to co-invest in transformative, industry-led proposals that will spur private sector investment, encouraging our manufacturers to draw on each other’s strengths and harness our world class research,” Minister Porter said.
“The Collaboration Stream is the largest component of our Modern Manufacturing Strategy, and focuses on long-term transformation in the National Manufacturing Priority areas to support job creation and investment in Australian manufacturing.”

Applications can be lodged online from 11 August 2021, closing 5pm AEST on 9 September 2021.
