Hosted by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) and the Pearcey Foundation, winners of the National iAwards represent Australia at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards.

According to the media release by the Premier of Victoria, eight Victorian companies were among this year’s winners.

The Australian Government has been a committed sponsor of the Awards and will continue to be until at least 2018. The Government also sponsors the peak Inspiration Award.

“Our sponsorship is part of our focus on a dynamic and internationally competitive ICT sector for Victoria that drives productivity and innovation across all industry sectors. The range of domains in which Victorian companies and people won iAwards highlights the strength and depth of Victoria’s $34.2 billion ICT sector, which employs over 91,000 people, around 30 per cent of Australia’s total ICT workforce,” said Minister for Technology, Gordon Rich-Phillips.

“It is this diversity, backed by a skilled workforce and an outstanding research ecosystem that is attracting more international investment to Victoria in key areas like software development and cloud computing. Since November 2010, the Victorian Coalition Government has helped facilitate over $1.1 billion in new technology-related investment and created more than 5,000 jobs.”
