The move forms part of General Mills’ restructuring effort in of Australia, which also see the company relocate its Australian manufacturing activity into an expanded production facility in Rooty Hill, NSW.

General Mills said the decision to close the Mount Waverley facility – which makes pasta, sauce and ready-to-eat meals – was taken to simplify its supply chain and secure the future growth of the business.

“The closure of the Mount Waverley facility will occur between April and June 2018. All staff in both locations have been informed of the closure,” reads the statement.

“General Mills will be working to redeploy and relocate employees to Rooty Hill as appropriate, but it is likely that most roles from Mount Waverley will become redundant.”
