General Atomics-Systems Integration, an affiliate of General Atomics, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EPI, a subsidiary of EDGE Group, to collaborate on the manufacturing, testing, and repair of electromechanical systems.
The agreement was formalised on 17 February 2025, during the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
According to EPI, the partnership will support the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
“Through this collaboration, EPI will significantly expand its capabilities. This will include the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility to support the production of electromechanical systems,” said Michael Deshaies, CEO of EPI.
General Atomics-Systems Integration stated that the initiative represents a step forward in the development of advanced aviation technology.
“Working with EPI will mark a leap forward in the development and manufacturing of this advanced aviation technology,” said Scott Sappenfield, Vice President of General Atomics-Systems Integration.
“We expect to offer safe, affordable, high-performance solutions to replace legacy systems in military and commercial aircraft.”
The project is supported by the Tawazun Council through the Tawazun Economic Program, which aims to drive strategic partnerships in the UAE’s defence and aerospace industries.
According to General Atomics, a key milestone in the collaboration will be the certification of EPI’s facility as a Part 145 repair centre, involving production airworthiness certification and the testing and evaluation of prototype units to ensure compliance with industry standards.
