Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation Limited, a designer, manufacturer and marketer of products and systems for use in respiratory care, has unveiled the F&P Solo mask, designed to transform the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

In an ASX announcement, the company said the F&P Solo is the world’s first AutoFit nasal and pillows mask, simplifying the setup process for users, and allowing them to effortlessly stretch the mask onto their face and adjust it with a single touch.

Lewis Gradon, managing director and CEO of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, emphasised the significance of the F&P Solo mask in the field of mask innovation.

He stated, “F&P Solo represents a significant step forward in mask innovation. Our team has been uncompromising in its focus on patient outcomes, and we believe this mask makes the setup and fit process easier than ever.

“We’ve begun with a market release in New Zealand and Australia, and more markets will follow in the coming months,” Gradon noted.

Moreover, FPH said the mask employs AutoLock technology, which holds the mask in place with minimal force and adapts to sleep movement and CPAP-therapy pressure, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit throughout the night.

Andrew Somervell, VP of Products and Technology at Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, highlighted the patient-centric design of the F&P Solo.

“Patients can set themselves up without assistance and then easily fine-tune the mask during nightly use for an optimal fit. Our focus on what’s best for the patient led us here – we sought a result that optimises for both comfort and simplicity, and we believe F&P Solo delivers on this,” Somervell explained.

Sales of the F&P Solo mask have already commenced in New Zealand and are set to begin in Australia at the end of October.

The global rollout of this innovative mask will continue with launches planned for Europe, Canada, and the United States in the coming months.

To cater to individual needs, users can purchase nasal and pillow cushions separately. The mask’s headgear is available in one size, while there are four different nasal cushion sizes (small, medium, large, and wide) and three pillow cushion sizes (small, medium, and large).

The introduction of the F&P Solo mask is supported by positive clinical trial results, with 95 per cent of users being able to set up the mask without assistance and 93 per cent of patients rating their experience with the F&P Solo mask as simple or very simple.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare aims to bring greater comfort and ease of use to OSA patients, revolutionising the field of sleep apnea treatment with this innovation.
