EROAD Limited, a leading transportation technology services company, has revealed its strategic collaboration with Microsoft to leverage generative AI for the development of new products and features.
The ASX-listed company said this initiative is a crucial element of EROAD’s growth strategy, focusing on partnerships in the high-growth North American market and enhancing in-market sales capabilities.
Microsoft’s generative AI will play a pivotal role in furthering the development of CoreTemp, EROAD’s predictive analytics software for refrigerated vehicles and trailers.
The incorporation of AI technology aims to expedite the integration of EROAD’s solutions into the expansive reefer market, with over 400,000 trailers in the North American region alone.
Mark Heine, CEO of EROAD, emphasised the broader mission of providing businesses with the intelligence to create a better and more sustainable world.
“We have been actively looking for collaborations to help drive our growth strategy, and who better to partner with than Microsoft,” Heine noted.
According to him, the collaboration with Microsoft not only accelerates product development but also opens up new segments in the North American market, with potential benefits for customers in New Zealand and Australia.
The partnership will introduce AI-powered tools, including customised dashboards for interactive reports, hands-free voice assistants for product access, and image recognition for detecting and classifying objects from vehicle cameras.
A recent AI Innovation event held by EROAD and Microsoft resulted in projects with significant benefits, such as the AI Digital Advisor.
This strategic consultant for fleet operations utilises generative AI to optimise asset load balancing and driver efficiency, providing visual aids for the intuitive exploration of actionable insights.
Another project focuses on predictive maintenance and reefer operations management, utilising AI to identify patterns and anomalies, predict maintenance issues, and suggest corrective actions.
EROAD has already experienced the benefits of AI adoption in product development, particularly with GitHub Copilot – an AI-powered coding assistant that has significantly improved code quality, efficiency, and speed to market.
Tim Mole, CTO of EROAD, praised GitHub Copilot as a game-changer, enabling faster value delivery, reduced bugs, and the freedom for developers to focus on creative aspects of their work.
“We are impressed by the capabilities and future potential of GitHub Copilot and we look forward to seeing how it continues to evolve,” Mole concluded.
