Ego Pharmaceuticals has been awarded a prestigious Silver medal in the Sustainable Packaging Design category at the 2024 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards.
The award was given in recognition of their significant advancements in the packaging of the QV Face range, the company said in a news release.
The PIDA Awards, a highly regarded event in the packaging industry, celebrate companies that demonstrate excellence in packaging innovation with a focus on sustainability.
The Sustainable Packaging Design category, in particular, highlights innovative solutions that address critical areas such as social impact, material efficiency, source reduction, energy usage, and waste recovery.
Ego Pharmaceuticals’ redesign of the QV Face range was lauded for its impressive environmental impact.
The company managed to increase the recyclability of the packaging from 50.2 per cent to 74.5 per cent and reduce the overall packaging weight by 14 per cent.
These changes are expected to divert approximately 13 tonnes of packaging from landfill each year, based on the volume of QV Face products sold in the Australian market during FY 22/23.
As a signatory of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) and a member of the ANZPAC PACT (Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island Pact on Plastic), the company said it continues to strive for packaging solutions that enhance recyclability and incorporate more recycled materials.
