Return and Earn has introduced an innovative “takes all” trial in Dubbo, simplifying recycling for local residents by allowing them to deposit all eligible drink containers through any chute at upgraded machines.

The recent changes aim to streamline the recycling process, eliminating the need for residents to pre-sort containers and making it easier to earn the 10-cent refund for each item returned.

James Dorney, CEO of TOMRA Cleanaway, the network operator for Return and Earn, expressed enthusiasm about the changes, saying, “Residents in the Dubbo region are already enthusiastic recyclers, having returned over 181 million eligible bottles, cans, and cartons through local return points since the scheme began.”

“These improvements to local return points will make it even easier and quicker to return your eligible bottles and cans and pocket the refund.”

The upgrades have been implemented at the following Return and Earn locations:

  • Coles Dubbo Square, located at 177 Macquarie Street, Dubbo, open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Woolworths Wellington, located at 81 Arthur Street, Wellington, open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Users can choose to print a voucher for cash redemption or opt for an e-voucher or direct bank or PayPal payment through the Return and Earn app.

Additionally, users can donate refunds to any of the 300+ listed donation partners, supporting community groups and charities across New South Wales.

Since its launch in 2017, Return and Earn has helped raise over $62 million for local charities and community groups in NSW and returned more than $1.2 billion in refunds to residents.

With over 12 billion containers recycled at 640 return points statewide, the program has made a significant impact on reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

“I encourage everyone in the region to continue to make Return and Earn a part of your routine. Together, we are all contributing to a more sustainable future, where the materials that our bottles, cans, and cartons are made of are kept in use and out of landfill,” Dorney added.
