Over 35 industry partners are joining the $240 million Defence Trailblazer program, which will accelerate defence innovation and strengthen Australia’s national security.
Built through a strategic partnership between the University of Adelaide and UNSW Sydney, the Defence Trailblazer program will focus on building defence workforce capabilities and co-designing multi-domain solutions for the Australian Defence Force.
Program partners will also deliver leading-edge training and operational support solutions for the defence industry.
Developed with support from the Australian Department of Education, the program will focus on various areas, including quantum technologies, defensive hypersonics and countermeasures, robotics, autonomous system and AI, defence space technologies, and cyber and information warfare.
The first group of partners joining the program are namely Boeing Defence Australia, CAE Australia, Cisco, Leidos Australia, Lockheed Martin Australia, Northrop Grumman Australia, Raytheon Australia, Saab Australia and Thales.
The group also includes a diverse mix of SMEs and start-up companies such as Diraq, Elysium EPL, Geodrones, Greenroom Robotics, HB11, QuantX, Silentium Defence, Space Machines, SRC Aus and Viden.
“We are thrilled to announce our newly joined partners who have been instrumental in shaping activities for our Workforce and R&D programs in which they will participate,” said Defence Trailblazer Executive Director, Dr Sanjay Mazumdar.
“Together, we are committed to solving the toughest challenges facing our national security through workforce upskilling and translating innovative ideas into products and services for the ADF,” Mazumdar added.
The Defence Trailblazer program is slated to launch on 21 July at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide.
