New South Wales-based manufacturer DECO Australia announced the successful acquisition of Opening Roof Specialists, a well-established Sydney-based company.
The acquisition is set to take effect from 1 February 2024, the company said in a news release.
Founded in 2000 by Alex Pataky, Opening Roof Specialists, previously known as Steelbond Pty Ltd, stands as a family-owned and operated business situated in Minto, NSW.
The company has built a strong reputation for its expertise in manufacturing, fabricating, and installing premium-quality, aluminium opening roof systems.
Noteworthy features of their outdoor roofing solutions include dimmable downlights and a linear motor specially designed by Pataky himself.
Ross Doonan, founder and director of DECO Australia, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, describing it as a unique opportunity to expand DECO’s market presence.
He stated, “Outdoor living is central to our Australian lifestyle and climate. The acquisition of Opening Roof Specialists will allow DECO to expand into a market that complements our wide range of existing aluminium building products, like DecoDeck, DecoBatten and DecoClad, that are already being used in this space.”
According to DECO Australia, the acquisition marks a strategic move for the company, aligning with its commitment to offering comprehensive architectural solutions.
As an Australian-owned family business, DECO also sees this expansion as a means to provide more high-quality options to its customer base.
Scott Reed, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of industry experience, has been appointed as the General Manager of Opening Roof Specialists.
He will be succeeding the retiring CEO and founder, Alex Pataky. Reed, who has previously held significant positions at Steel-line, Stair Lock, and Digga Australia, expressed his excitement about joining the team.
“Opening Roof Specialists is a fantastic business, with a fantastic product. I am looking forward to joining the team and working alongside the DECO team to grow the business and get more opening roofs in Aussie backyards,” said Reed.
