A prominent electronics company has chosen DB SCHENKER Australia as the custodian of third-party logistics (3PL) services for its recently tailored spare parts storage facility in New South Wales, cementing their partnership spanning over two decades.
The state-of-the-art warehouse spans an impressive 12,800 square metres and is equipped with four recessed docks and three on-grade docks, capable of accommodating 30,000 SKUs, DB SCHENKER said in a news release.
It has been constructed with robust on-site security, advanced inventory management, value-added services, and sustainability measures firmly integrated.
Derrick Martins, the director of Contract Logistics for DB SCHENKER Australia and New Zealand, emphasised the significance of this project.
He highlighted that this venture represents the electronics giant’s first custom fit-out facility in the region, offering the advantage of harnessing DB SCHENKER’s global expertise in 3PL efficiencies and rapid response times.
“Spare parts management creates a number of complexities for warehousing and logistics, and it is often our job to optimise processes within existing fit-outs or setups. Having a facility where DB SCHENKER was responsible for the fit-out means we could design the entire warehouse in the most efficient way right from the outset,” explained Martins.
Given the high-value nature of electronics warehoused, DB SCHENKER has collaborated closely with the client to implement enhanced security measures, including a fully fenced site, round-the-clock CCTV camera surveillance, on-site security personnel, and 24/7 back-to-base alarm monitoring.
According to DB, the emphasis on sustainability is another common thread in this partnership. The warehouse was meticulously planned to include energy-efficient lighting, recycling practices, and a custom box builder to minimise waste.
This collaboration is a testament to the long-term partnership between DB SCHENKER and the major electronics company, which has endured for two decades.
Their collaborative efforts have encompassed customs clearance, port-to-warehouse delivery, product and spare parts warehousing, domestic outbound distribution, and reverse logistics management.
Derrick Martins expressed his gratitude for this enduring partnership, acknowledging the hard work, adaptability, and dedication of teams from both organisations.
To date, the partnership has demonstrated the ability to overcome challenges and work tirelessly toward shared goals for 20 years.
“Long-term partnerships like this are a testament to the hard work, flexibility, and dedication of people from both companies. We are grateful for 20 years of working towards shared goals, and overcoming challenges together,” concluded Martins.
