Minister for Regional Development Harriet Shing announced the completion of family-owned manufacturing business LV Shade & Shutters’ new dual-purpose hub, which is thrice the size of the previous site and can now accommodate a four-fold increase in production while creating seven new jobs.

The renovations include building a new workshop, outfitting it with modern equipment and technology, creating retail and office space, and developing the property’s external features with landscaping, fencing, and signage.

The government said in a press release that the project will enable the company to bring its larger sail and steel operations in-house rather than outsource them, increasing retail sales and annual turnover over the following 12 months.

In particular,  Victoria’s support for LV Shade & Shutters’ expansion is part of a $2 billion investment in projects and programs that have given more than 4,000 new employment to the Latrobe Valley workforce since 2014.

With projects like the Latrobe Valley GovHub, the Morwell Hi-Tech Precinct, and the Latrobe Creative Precinct in Traralgon, the Labor Government has made unprecedented investments in the Latrobe Valley region.

“We are determined to continue our record investment in a prosperous and thriving Latrobe Valley, and to support local businesses to expand, innovate, and employ more locals,” stated Minister Harriet Shing.

Minister for Manufacturing Sovereignty Ben Carroll said Victoria is Australia’s manufacturing state, and by supporting the growth of forward-thinking businesses like LV Shade & Shutters, the government is increasing the number of goods created in the state, which is beneficial for jobs and the economy.

Meanwhile, LV Shade & Shutters founder and owner Matthew Joske said, “This has been a labour of love for the past 10 years and as a small family-owned and operated business in Gippsland, we’re proud to continue to grow in the community that has backed us from the very beginning.”

LV Shade & Shutters, a small family-run business that was founded in 2013, has grown into one of Victoria’s top producers of awnings, roller shutters, and residential and commercial shade structures.

The company is based in Traralgon and designs and produces its goods for the entire Gippsland region as well as Melbourne.
