ClearVue Technologies Limited, a pioneer in smart building materials, has inked a manufacturing and distribution deal with Kapitol Group for the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, and Employees Union (CFMEU) in Melbourne.

Under the deal, ClearVue will provide its cutting-edge Generation 2 ClearVuePV solar windows for the CFMEU’s upcoming Training and Wellness Centre in Carlton.

This initiative positions the CFMEU as the first organisation in Australia to incorporate ClearVue’s innovative solar glazing technology right from the project’s inception.

The installation of ClearVuePV solar glazing is scheduled for April 2024, the ASX-listed company said in a media release.

The CFMEU’s decision to integrate ClearVue’s solar windows reflects a commitment to exploring innovative building technologies that contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions in the built environment.

It also underscores the union’s support for ClearVue as a homegrown Australian leader in solar building materials.

Project architects, Hayball, are targeting a 5-Star GreenStar certification and a Gold WELL certification for the Training and Wellness Centre.

Martin Deil, the Global CEO of ClearVue, conveyed his excitement about the project, noting it as a significant milestone for ClearVue’s commercial launch in Australia.

“Our solar glass windows generate the highest energy of any comparable solar glass on the market, with strong insulation and thermal performance which reduces heating and cooling loads and can be mass produced on a standard unmodified production line,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Tom Stephens, project manager at Kapitol Group overseeing the CFMEU Training and Wellness Centre, emphasised the importance of engaging sustainable suppliers in Kapitol’s building projects.

“One of our core company values is to ‘do no harm’, and engaging with suppliers like ClearVue means we can build more sustainable buildings that will minimise their environmental impact for decades to come.”

According to ClearVue, its solar glazing solution is a pivotal element in the certification submission, reinforcing its role in sustainable and eco-friendly construction practices.

While the revenue generated from this project may not be substantial, it represents a landmark achievement for ClearVue as it marks the company’s inaugural commercial solar façade installation.

ClearVue Technologies anticipates providing regular updates on the progress of this transformative project, showcasing the tangible impact of its solar glazing technology in real-world applications.
