CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors, in partnership with Downer, has been chosen by the Australian Government’s Department of Defence to oversee design development activities for the Woomera Redevelopment Program.
Pending the necessary government and parliamentary approvals and aligned with the objectives outlined in the Defence Strategic Review, the project is expected to progress to a delivery phase, focusing on upgrading buildings, services, and infrastructure.
This phase is estimated to have a value ranging from $500 million to $750 million, the company said in a news release.
CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria expressed his satisfaction with the selection, highlighting that they are pleased to contribute their infrastructure and services expertise and their successful track record in remote project delivery to support the Woomera Redevelopment Program.
“We have a long history of working with the Department of Defence to enhance and sustain base and operational environments. This important project will support Defence personnel with improved facilities and bring opportunities to the local area,” Santamaria noted.
CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears highlighted their expertise and commitment to meeting operational and security requirements, ensuring the contract’s successful execution.
Spears remarked, “Our team will give priority to maximising the opportunities for local community, industry and Indigenous participation during this and future phases.”
