Cicada Innovation’s National Space Industry Hub has ventured into a partnership with India-based deep tech incubator mach33.aero to establish a bilateral international space collaboration between Australia and India.
The partnership seeks to encourage space entrepreneurs from the two nations to scale their global footprint, boost exports, attract investments, and collaborate on cutting-edge space technologies.
As part of the collaboration, the two companies will provide mutual access to physical space, facilities, commercialisation training, and coaching programs to the local space communities.
The partnership will also enable access to a recent investment of $25 million from the Australian government for businesses and researchers that seek to tap into India’s growing space industry. It will also support both nations to engage in the $9.5 million Australia-India Innovation and Technology Challenge.
Sally-Ann Williams, chief executive of Cicada Innovations, has highlighted the significance of developing strong international relationships amid the increasing growth of the commercial space sector.
“It also creates a unique opportunity to harness the skills and capabilities of both nations to mutually benefit our emerging space economies,” Williams added.
“Cicada Innovations has a strong track record of supporting Australian deep tech ventures that are truly changing the world. We look forward to working with its National Space Industry Hub to exchange invaluable skills, knowledge, and resources that will help both our nations lead the way in this new era of space exploration,” said Manoj Kumar, chairperson of mach33.aero.
Mac33.aero is India’s first public-private partnership to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in aviation, aerospace, and space technology. The company also offers wide-ranging applications across various sectors, such as agriculture, climate change, natural resources management, insurance, and weather forecasting.
