Bodd closes $5 million funding round

Australian 3D body scanning and data startup’s oversubscribed raise with family offices and HNWs to accelerate expansion following Bosch partnership.

Australian data and insights startup Bodd is pleased to announce it has raised $5 million in an oversubscribed funding round.

The multiple award-winning company’s 3D body scanning technology is non-obtrusive, safe and secure. It captures more data on the human body than any other single product, generating meaningful insights and outputs for both consumers and merchants. The technology is the result of five years of research of Bodd’s engineering team together with Swinburne University of Technology and RMIT.

The round was led by new shareholders including retail entrepreneurs Nick and Candice Hirons, as well as Tim Allison, the founding chairman of Virtual Gaming Worlds who has been Bodd’s Executive Chairman since 2019. The remainder of the round was conducted exclusively with family offices and high-net-worth individuals.

The investment will support Bodd’s global expansion into the North American wellness, fashion retail and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as consolidating the company’s existing commercialisation of the uniform industry, with increased capital expenditures and staffing.

Bodd’s 3D scanners are manufactured in Australia thanks to the company’s partnership with Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions. The relationship with Bosch gives reassurance to Bodd’s current and prospective global customers, as well as position the startup as an emerging voice in Australia’s advanced manufacturing industry.

Bodd has already secured uniform, military and retail customers in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia and is currently trialling with health and pharmacy chains in Australia, as well as major apparel retailers and pharmacy wellness brands in North America.

One such example is Bodd’s partnership with Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) whose client base spans military, healthcare, law enforcement, government, and corporate industries.
