Semiconductor manufacturing company BluGlass Limited has secured two more purchase orders for its single-mode and multi-mode violet 405nm and blue 450nm gallium nitride (GaN) lasers in flexible form factors.

In an ASX announcement, BluGlass said the customers who bought the lasers are in the advanced quantum, energy, and industrial applications industry and include a leading international energy research institution.

The BluGlass lasers will be implemented for testing and qualifications within the customers’ own applications.

The initial order volumes are small and financially not material but BluGlass lasers have been qualified within the applications and are expected to see order growth in volume and frequency.

Jim Haden, chief executive officer of BluGlass, said orders for their first GaN laser products are quickly gaining traction, with strong interest from customers across BluGlass’ product suite and target markets.

“These orders validate our go-to-market approach and reinforce the urgent need for suppliers to address growing unmet needs in the industry,” Haden said.

The CEO said the lasers are being implemented by customers looking to develop and test innovative new products across next-generation energy production, quantum, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing.

“Our flexibility is seeing customers wanting to work with us, and our first 450nm order in custom form factors in testament to this. We are looking forward to establishing BluGlass as the partner of choice in GaN lasers,” he added.

Additional customer proposals are progressing across multiple market segments, according to the company’s ASX announcement.

ASX-listed BluGlass Limited delivers GaN laser diode products to the global photonics industry, focused on the industrial, defence, bio-medical, and scientific markets.

The company operates in Sydney, Nashua, and Silicon Valley, and offers cutting-edge, custom laser diode development and manufacturing, ranging from small-batch custom lasers to medium and high-volume off-the-shelf products.
