Holloway Group’s revolutionary product, Biax, which replaces the polystyrene waffle pods in residential foundations, has seen them recognised in the 2022 AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies Awards, taking out tenth spot in the Property, Construction and Transport category last night.
The AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies Awards ranks the most innovative organisations from specific industries across Australia and New Zealand. The awards program is the only national competition of its kind.
The awarded Biax system is designed to be better for engineers, builders, and the environment, saving time on site and providing a number of on-site benefits. Biax retains everything that is good about the waffle pod slab but replaces the foam with a product that is made in Australia of recycled and recyclable material. It is stackable, making it easier to transport and store on site, and is priced comparably.
Holloway Group, CEO, Matthew Holloway commented how proud he is of his team to have won amongst the 700 nominations that were shortlisted to 400 for the awards night. “As a relative newcomer, to be recognised alongside such industry heavyweights as Laing O’Rourke, Mirvac and overall category winner, Charter Hall, is a proud moment for all my team,” said Matthew.
Jim Prior, Chief Operating Officer of Holloway Group, thanked the AFR and BOSS for recognising Biax among some of the industry’s best but said this is only a small step towards a wider-industry change.
“Biax aims to revolutionise the foundation of the building industry. In its short time so far, we can see the impact it’s had, and the potential impact it can have on our industry. To date, over 90 per cent of Biax customers have returned to use the system again, but we know our industry is slow moving when it comes to challenging the way things have always been done,” Jim says.
“We hope that this award, and continually elevating Biax’s stance as a sustainable, innovative, efficient and cost-effective alternative to the waffle pod, will help encourage industry-wide uptake of the system and help move the construction sector towards more sustainable practices.
“Broad adoption of Biax could help the construction industry eliminate 25,000 tonnes of polystyrene from the building market each year – that is a huge impact.”
