Green Eco Technologies (GET), an innovative Australian tech firm, announced a partnership with the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCaE) in March.
The agreement aims to reinforce the UAE’s national Food Waste Pledge, which was established in 2017. As part of the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 strategic initiative, the Pledge aims to decrease and repurpose food and organic waste. It also intends to align the UAE with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
GET has created WasteMaster, a patented system that repurposes food and organic waste on-site. It assists clients in managing food waste disposal and reducing environmental effect.
WasteMaster is aimed at the hotel industry and businesses that generate a lot of food and organic waste. Hospitals, houses and communities, catering facilities, employee housing, universities, and airports are all examples.
On March 22, GET Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), William Ward, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MoCCaE.
The signing was attended by His Excellency Essa Al Hashmi, Assistant Undersecretary for Sustainable Communities, and Xavier Simonet, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade).
In support of the circular economy, GET continues to collaborate with partners on food waste awareness and education campaigns.
During Expo 2020 Dubai, the company displayed its WasteMaster technology at the Australian Pavilion. Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and Governor of Victoria, Linda Dessau, were presented with the solution by Justin McGowan, Australian Commissioner General for Expo 2020.
GET is headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, with headquarters and production facilities in Australia and the United Kingdom. It also has operations in the United States and Spain.
