The Australian Innovation Competition (AIC 2023) has opened for entries today, with the goal of supporting local innovators across all sectors, including mining and manufacturing, who are developing new ideas and solutions to benefit customers, organisations, and their industries.
A total prize fund of $150,000 will be split among a total of five winners who have showcased the best examples of Australian innovation, according to a press release from METS Ignited.
The competition, which is available to participants of all ages from around Australia, will be judged by a panel of Aussie innovation experts who will award prizes based on market fit, customer support, and potential impact.
“Through this competition, we are looking to celebrate Australian ingenuity and particularly those innovations that are hidden from view right across our economy,” said Kylah Morrison, General Manager – Skills and Innovation for Industry Growth Centre METS Ignited.
Morrison said there are so many outstanding concepts being developed across the country, such as in schools, universities, research bodies, and private businesses, adding that the goal is to locate, praise, and offer them a chance to affect Australia’s future.
“No matter how big or small, every idea – from any industry or part of Australia – will be in the running to win,” noted Morrison.
She then urged individuals to participate in the said competition, saying that “If you have a great innovation that delivers tangible value to society, this is your opportunity to showcase your creation on a national stage, maximise your reach and expand your potential impact for the benefit of all.”
Morrison explained that future ideas might aid in the energy transition to battle climate change, assist in food production under extreme weather conditions such as drought, or use emerging technology such as robots and artificial intelligence in novel ways.
The Australian Innovation Competition is a one-time celebration of Australian creativity that will run from 29 June to 31 August 2023.
Industry Growth Centre METS Ignited is promoting the competition.
