Australian hot water solutions provider Aus J has secured a breakthrough in the North American recreational vehicle (RV) market with its Duoetto Gen 3 water heater, now distributed by HVAC solutions leader SDG.
SDG, headquartered in Elkhart, Indiana—often referred to as the RV Capital of the World—is adding the Duoetto Gen 3 12V/120V water heater to its portfolio.
The company said in a news release its distribution network extends nationally, providing manufacturers and fitout companies with compact, energy-efficient water heating solutions.
According to SDG President Kevin Searer, the Duoetto Gen 3 aligns with the company’s advanced DC-powered air conditioning systems.
“Designed for off-grid and hybrid setups, it delivers superior efficiency, reliability, and seamless integration,” Searer said.
The Duoetto Gen 3 features automatic voltage switching between 12V and 120V, digital controls, and compatibility with US RV systems such as Firefly Integrations.
It is designed for various applications, including RVs, yachts, work trucks, and emergency or catering vehicles.
Searer described the heater as the first of its kind with an optional remote control, eliminating the need for both gas and electricity.
“Duoetto Gen 3 is the world’s first 12V/120V water heater with optional remote control, providing on-demand hot water without requiring both gas and electricity—a game-changer for mobile and marine applications,” he said.
Aus J Managing Director Jay King highlighted the company’s efforts in bringing the product to market, including securing UL 174 Standard approval, which is essential for success in the US.
He said the demand for sustainable travel solutions has driven interest in the Duoetto series.
“This new generation of travelers prioritises energy-efficient solutions that align with the global shift from fossil fuels to electric power,” King said.
The Duoetto range, including the 12V/240V model sold in Australia and internationally, is also used in compact buildings such as tiny homes and off-grid structures.
King emphasised the significance of the product’s success in the global market, particularly in Elkhart, where more than 80 per cent of the world’s RVs are manufactured.
“Many sceptics told us our concept of switchable 12V-to-mains electric water heaters could not be done, but now our Australian designs are succeeding around the world, including in the world capital of RV production,” he said.
