The Australian Cobotics Centre was launched at the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Hub in Brisbane in December 2022 with the goal of creating a safer, more efficient and globally competitive manufacturing industry.

Established as the Australian Research Council’s Training Centre for Collaborative Robotics in Advanced Manufacturing, the facility will focus on the implementation of cobotics with research programs addressing both technological advances and human and design factors needed when implementing new technology.

The facility, headquartered at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT),  includes cobots and people working across various tasks, such as welding, polishing, fabrication, and inspection.

Professor Jonathan Roberts, director of the centre, leads a transdisciplinary team of researchers from QUT, the University of Technology Sydney, and Swinburne University of Technology.

The new centre has also enlisted a roster of industry partners, such as B&R Enclosures, Cook Medical, Weld Australia, InfraBuild, IR4, TU Dortmund University, ARM Hub.
