Marine Air Flow International, an Australian manufacturer specialising in engine ventilation equipment, has taken a step toward sustainability by transitioning to Capral Aluminium’s LocAl Super Green.

Known for designing filtration systems that remove salt mist particles from the air, the company plays a vital role in ensuring clean air for marine engine rooms, serving global clients with nearly half of its business stemming from exports.

The company’s collaboration with Capral Aluminium has played a key role, with the supplier providing custom aluminium extrusions crucial to Marine Air Flow International’s designs.

In 2022, Capral introduced LocAl, a low-carbon aluminium solution with significantly reduced CO2 emissions, as low as 4kg CO2e per 1kg of aluminium compared to the industry average of 12.46kg CO2e per 1kg.

Blake Highland, Production Manager at Marine Air Flow, acknowledged the strategic importance of the shift.

“We’ve had a very longstanding relationship with Capral; they provide several custom extrusions for us to use in our proprietary designs,” he said.

The transition involved a thorough cost analysis, revealing that the premium associated with LocAl Super Green had minimal impact on overall expenses while offering long-term benefits.

According to Capral, Marine Air Flow International’s achievements in innovation and sustainability have not gone unnoticed.

The company received the Small Business Award at the Australian Export Awards, celebrating its international growth, and the Gold Coast Business Excellence Award in June 2024, recognising its contributions to the local economy.

These accolades affirm Marine Air Flow’s dedication to quality and environmental stewardship, further bolstered by its use of Capral’s advanced materials.
