The Australian Steel Institute (ASI), the peak body for locally made steel, is calling on potential nominees for the Steel Sustainability Awards, which aims to recognise local achievements in sustainable design and use of steel.
Companies seeking to showcase their projects or initiatives demonstrating sustainable steel performance are being urged to submit their entries before 31 October 2023.
The Steel Sustainability Awards will showcase the sustainable achievements of the end-to-end steel supply chain across two broad focus areas, which are the use of steel in building and construction projects and company steel sustainability initiatives.
The awards will feature four categories with a fifth presented if warranted to recognise an overall exemplary entry, ASI said in a media release.
The categories will recognise Large Projects valued at $10 million or over, Small Projects at less than $10 million, Company Sustainability Initiatives for large businesses with 75 or more full-time employees, and small businesses with less than 75 full-timers.
Winners will be announced online in 2024.
The Large and Small Projects categories must have been fabricated or processed in Australia and sourced from predominantly Australian-made steel to qualify.
Meanwhile, companies joining the Company Sustainability categories must be based in Australia and provide steel-related services or products including research and development in steel-related solutions.
