The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) announced the finalists for the 2024 APCO Awards, highlighting the achievements of 55 organisations across eight sustainable packaging categories.

The awards, conducted in collaboration with the Banksia Foundation, celebrate innovations in areas such as the Sustainable Packaging Guidelines (SPGs) Implementation, Reuse, and Recycled Content.

A new addition to the awards this year is the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) Excellence Award, introduced to honour those who have excelled in implementing the ARL on their packaging.

Chris Foley, CEO of APCO, commended the finalists, stating that these organisations are leading the way toward a more sustainable packaging future across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

The winners of the 2024 APCO Awards will be unveiled at a ceremony on Thursday, 21 November, at Doltone House in Sydney, an event open to the entire industry.

In particular, the evening will feature a sit-down dinner and drinks with views of Sydney Harbour.

Finalists for the ARL Excellence Award include Coles, La Casa Del Formaggio (LCDF Trading Pty Ltd), Myer, and Telstra.

Other notable categories feature finalists such as Woolworths, CHEP Australia, and DuluxGroup for the Reuse Award, and Amcor Flexibles, Diageo Australia, and Opal Packaging for the Recycled Content Award.

In addition to these categories, APCO will also recognise outstanding member reporting with a series of awards that do not require submissions, with nominees selected based on the quality of their reports.

Finalists in the 2024 Industry Sector Awards include prominent names like Bayer Cropscience, Lego Australia Pty Ltd, and Simplot Australia Pty Ltd.

Further details about the event and the full list of finalists can be found on the APCO Awards website.
