Australian Financial Review (AFR) has named Ampcontrol one of Australia’s Most Innovative Companies in 2023 for its advanced energy solutions manufacturing capabilities.

Ampcontrol ranked eighth out of the Top 100 List’s Manufacturing and Consumer Goods category.

AFR received over 700 submissions, which were scored based on three components: an innovation they have implemented in the past 24 months; how the company has embedded innovation into their organisation; and performance on behaviour change consultancy Inventium’s Innovation Benchmarking survey, which assess performance on a range of innovation drivers.

Ampcontrol’s recognition was attributed to the company’s electric vehicle DRIFTEX, which is intended to help decarbonise and electrify the mining industry.

DRIFTEX was created in response to growing industry demand for low-emissions technology and is designed to deliver health and environmental improvements by removing carcinogens underground.

“Our cutting-edge electric vehicle technology and solutions exemplify what strong partnerships, investment in world-class research and development, and an innovative and collaborative mindset can achieve. We have the proven strength in advanced manufacturing, Australian ingenuity, and a highly skilled workforce ready to transform the world with the next generation of product innovation,” said Rod Henderson, managing director and CEO of Ampcontrol

The 2023 AFR Boss Most Innovative Companies list aims to showcase that a culture encouraging experimentation, challenging norms, and stretching employees leads to boundary-pushing innovation.

“We want to help and support our customers and industry to decarbonise by developing and manufacturing energy solutions of scale to enable a competitive advantage in a net-zero carbon environment. Collaboration is essential to bring together the brightest minds so we can think radically to challenge the status quo and disrupt the future of energy,” said CEO Henderson.

The AFR accolade is the second recognition for DRIFTEX, which was recently named winner in the Health Excellence category at the NSW Mining HSEC Awards.

The latest recognition also follows the launch of Ampcontrol’s new company vision to lead the global energy revolution with strategic plans for growth and expansion into new markets, geographic locations, and innovative energy transition solutions for the resources sector.
