Australian electrical engineering company Ampcontrol has acquired Hunter-based Androck Engineering & Mining to expand renewable energy manufacturing and boost the low-carbon economy transition.
Founded in 2006, Androck began as an exclusively based repair-supplied company aimed at supporting the Australasian underground mining industry. The company has now grown into a substantial supply and manufacture operation and works.
Rod Henderson, managing director and CEO of Ampcontrol, said the acquisition will enable Ampcontrol to accelerate the development of its energy and electromotive solutions at scale and support decarbonisation efforts by leveraging Androck’s extensive mechanical and machining expertise, capability and manufacturing operation.
Ampcontrol said the investment is also aligned with its strategic plans for growth and expansion in renewable energy manufacturing to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Androck has established five facilities in Rutherford, New South Wales, and touts capabilities in machining, fabrication, hydraulics, and electric repairs. The engineering company also conducts equipment services and overhauls, including continuous miners, shuttle cars, and multi-bolters.
“Keeping manufacturing jobs within Australia has always been important to me. With a workforce of 65 people, I’m excited to see how the Androck product offerings and skilled people can support Ampcontrol, its customers and the wider industry to help make net zero a reality,” said Darren Rockley, managing director and owner of Androck
“Knowing Androck will be going to the ‘good home’ of Ampcontrol leaves me confident there will be a smooth transition of our business operations for our customers and will see our manufacturing remain onshore,” Rockley added.
Rockley will remain in the business following the acquisition’s completion, which is slated for 31 May, to support the integration of Androck into Ampcontrol and focus on strategic growth opportunities.
According to a share purchase agreement signed by the two companies earlier this month, there will be no immediate changes to current trading, workforce, operations, branding, or customer contracts and orders.
Furthermore, Androck’s existing products and services are to remain unchanged and form a part of the Amcontrol offering.
