AML3D has secured a AUD 0.83 million contract with BAE Systems, marking its entry into the UK defence market.

Under the terms of the agreement, AML3D will supply 8.5 tonnes of Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB) wire feedstock, a key material used in defence manufacturing, as revealed in a news release.

This contract forms part of AML3D’s broader growth strategy, which includes expanding its manufacturing capabilities in both Australia and the U.S. to serve the defence sectors in these regions.

AML3D’s CEO, Sean Ebert, highlighted the company’s growing relationship with BAE Systems, which has been in development for over a year.

“It is very exciting to see that work translate into an initial contract from BAE Systems,” Ebert said. “It is even more exciting that this contract is planned to be just the first, and I look forward to giving updates on additional contracts as the program progresses.”

The contract is seen as a crucial step in AML3D’s strategy to leverage its manufacturing capacity to meet the increasing demand in the UK and Australian defence markets.

Ebert emphasised that this contract is only the beginning, with the company exploring further opportunities with other companies within the U.K. defence sector.

“AML3D is moving into the next phase of our growth strategy, which includes leveraging the extraordinary growth and demand we are experiencing within the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base to expand into the Australian and U.K. defence sectors,” he said.

“Beyond this BAE Systems contract, AML3D is developing opportunities with other companies supporting the U.K. defence sector. And while winning defence contracts can take time, I am confident that we will be in a position to announce additional orders from the U.K. and Australian defence sectors to complement the huge momentum we are seeing in the U.S.”

This deal comes after AML3D’s expansion into the US market, where the company opened a new manufacturing facility in December 2024.
