Altech Batteries has secured a third offtake agreement with Germany’s Axsol GmbH, naming them the exclusive distributor of CERENERGY batteries for the western defence industry.

This partnership aims to streamline market entry for Altech’s advanced energy storage solutions, leveraging Axsol’s expertise and NATO certification, Altech said in an ASX announcement.

“We are delighted to have secured such a competent partner in Axsol,” said Altech CEO Iggy Tan.

“Axsol’s strong interest in our technology highlights the unique advantages of Altech’s CERENERGY® Sodium Chloride Solid State Battery technology and the exceptional unique selling points we bring to the market.”

Axsol is a certified supplier to NATO and western allied forces, which is expected to streamline the qualification process for CERENERGY batteries.

Known for its expertise in integrating renewable energy systems, Axsol combines solar, wind, hydrogen energy, and fuel cell solutions with advanced battery technologies to deliver safe and reliable energy across industries.

The CERENERGY batteries are designed to meet the demanding requirements of defence applications and government agencies.

Altech and Axsol will also collaborate to integrate battery technologies into multiple energy sources through Axsol’s advanced energy management system, “AXOS.”

Key terms of the agreement include the commencement of deliveries in early 2027, contingent upon the commissioning of Altech’s production plant. Minimum purchase targets have been outlined, starting at 10 MWh in 2027 and scaling to 30 MWh annually from 2029 to 2031.

Subject to availability, maximum targets could reach 120 MWh annually during the same period.

Altech and Axsol will jointly develop a multisystem battery management system to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of future Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
