Aerobotix and ASA join forces to solve hypersonic engineering challenges

Aerobotix and Automated Solutions Australia (ASA) have formally launched their international robotic automation alliance for the development and evaluation of hypersonic-capable parts.

The alliance was established after the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia signed the AUKUS security agreement in 2021, which calls for cooperation between the allies on hypersonic and counter-hypersonic technologies.

The Aerobotix-ASA partnership will make it easier for the Australian defence industry and Australian defence contractors to leverage the automation expertise of both firms.

The two businesses connected through their shared expertise in the robotic coating automation sector, and they are now collaborating to explore projects for which a sovereign presence is required.

“We’ll work with the U.S. State Department for approval of any technology transfer for ASA,” said Josh Tuttle, Aerobotix Business Development Manager.

“We’ll also help ASA in other ways. For example, we can save them years of costly development work by sharing how to robotically spray FIREX™ RX-2390 Thermal Protection System coatings.”

Nathan Jones, ASA General Manager, said Aerobotix’s support provides ASA with the knowledge and tools necessary to solve the toughest automation problems in precision coating applications.

“Aerobotix has already deployed several production robotic systems for hypersonics,” Mr Jones stated.

“They’re even making critical test parts for programs that haven’t had time to build production facilities.

“Their willingness to support our company, and Australia, is going to significantly reduce costs, schedule delays and program risk.”
