The House Standing Committee on Industry, Science, and Resources is set to hear ideas from stakeholder organisations on how to effectively improve Australia’s advanced manufacturing capability at a public hearing tomorrow, 5 July, at the Sydney Masonic Centre.
The Department of the House of Representatives said in a media release that representatives from the health, union, resource manufacturing, and energy sectors will discuss Australia’s current advanced manufacturing landscape, as well as the potential and difficulties it faces.
In particular, renewable energy technology is one of the sectors that will be investigated, as will its impact on Australian industry.
Committee Chair, Rob Mitchell MP, said, ‘‘This public hearing will afford the Committee a further opportunity to hear the vital views of stakeholders involved in advanced manufacturing.
These opinions, according to Mitchell, will help the Committee formulate suitable recommendations to support the expansion of sovereign capabilities and solve problems affecting the sector’s progress.
The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Industry, Science, and Resources has begun an enquiry into Developing Advanced Manufacturing in Australia, after a reference from the Minister for Industry and Science, the Hon Ed Husic MP, on 15 February 2023.
