The Victorian Coalition Government is investing further $4.6 million in training to grow future employment opportunities in Greater Geelong and rolling-out five new projects — taking the total investment to $11 million.

According to the media release by the Premier of Victoria, the five new projects under Skilling the Bay stage 2, phase 2 are:
• Geelong Workforce Development Centre;
• Skilling for Business Success;
• Skilling the Health and Community Services Workforce;
• Successful Students — STEM; and
• Skills for Advance Manufacturing — Composite Materials.
The investment was made available as part of the Industry Transition and Specialist Training Initiative, while the new projects have aimed to capitalise on emerging training and employment opportunities in Greater Geelong and have set to help affected workers in the Geelong region.
“The Napthine Government remains committed to providing a skills driven approach to job creation in Greater Geelong. This gives workers the best chance of securing a meaningful and long term job. The new projects build on stage one of Skilling the Bay — which was first introduced in 2011 — to provide a skills and training response to economic and industry restructuring in Greater Geelong,” said Minister for Higher Education and Skills Nick Wakeling.
“This is an opportunity for Geelong to lead the way, as growth industries are identified and workers are empowered to transition to new employment and careers pathways,” said Member for Western Victoria Region David Koch.
