Titomic has announced a new partnership with The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) to advance cold spray technology and additive manufacturing.

The collaboration aims to integrate Titomic’s cold spray systems with UAH’s research expertise to explore new applications across multiple industries, Titomic said in a LinkedIn post.

The initial phase of the partnership will focus on understanding material properties that influence performance in sectors such as aerospace, defence, energy, and oil and gas.

Research efforts will also extend to repair solutions, coatings, and the development of advanced products.

Looking ahead, the collaboration is expected to expand into areas such as automation, robotics, and augmented reality.

Both parties have expressed confidence that the partnership will contribute to innovation in modern manufacturing and address key industry challenges.

Titomic CEO Jim Simpson described the initiative as an opportunity to further cold spray technology.

“We are thrilled to partner with The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Together, we will push the frontiers of cold spray technology and additive manufacturing, delivering solutions that will have a profound impact on industries from aerospace to energy,” Simpson said.

UAH President Dr Charles L Karr highlighted the potential benefits of the partnership: “This partnership offers exciting opportunities to combine Titomic’s pioneering cold spray technology with UAH’s cutting-edge research and resources.”

“By working together, we aim to accelerate the development of novel materials and manufacturing methods, shaping the future of the industry,” Karr stated.
