Australian emergency beacon manufacturer GME has announced the release of its latest innovation, the MT605G 406MHz GNSS EPIRB, designed to enhance maritime safety.

Equipped with a GNSS receiver supporting GPS and Galileo systems, the MT605G ensures precise location tracking, while its high-intensity infrared strobe light improves visibility for search and rescue (SAR) operations.

GME’s Safety Expert, Tony Crooke, commented, “As a coastal nation, Aussies love their time on the water. 3.5 million of us enjoy spending time boating every year, often in areas without mobile phone coverage. This is why having the right safety gear on the water is so important – it can be the defining factor in a rescue situation where every second counts.

“The MT605G is a game-changing new product for any Aussie looking to spend time on the water. It’s reliable, rugged, and packed with the kind of tech that gives you peace of mind when you need it most,” he noted.

Approved for worldwide COSPAS-SARSAT operations, this beacon features a 121.5MHz homing signal, offering reliable distress alerting and global location services.

The MT605G boasts a 10-year battery life, a quick and easy self-test function, and comes with a six-year warranty.

Its package includes a quick-release mounting bracket, hardware, and emergency activation instructions.

Manufactured in Australia, the MT605G complies with AS/NZS 4280.1 standards and is priced at $470.

It will be available from 20 January 2025.

This release marks GME’s latest advancement in a legacy of emergency beacon innovation, beginning with its first EPIRB in 1979.
