The South Australian Government has selected CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors, in partnership with the Fleurieu Connections Alliance, to deliver Stage 2 of the Main South Road Duplication (MSRD2) Project.

This initiative, aimed at improving road safety, traffic flow, and connectivity in Adelaide’s southern region, will generate approximately $200 million in revenue for CPB Contractors.

The project, slated for completion by early 2026, involves a six-kilometre road duplication between Aldinga Road and Sellicks Beach Road.

Key components include a new interchange at Aldinga, installation of road monitoring cameras and variable message signboards, and extensive landscaping.

CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaria highlighted the project’s potential to enhance regional productivity and safety.

“This is a significant productivity enhancing project for regional South Australia that will ensure a safer and faster journey for motorists, while providing a vital boost for local tourism,” he said.

CPB Contractors Managing Director Jason Spears expressed the company’s commitment to leveraging local expertise and partnerships.

“We’ll be drawing on our 90-plus years’ experience delivering complex road infrastructure as well as our local relationships and knowledge working on the Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road duplication project.”

“Together with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport and our Alliance partners, we look forward to continuing to engage with local people, suppliers, and businesses to ensure we maximise economic, employment, and social opportunities for the community,” Spears stated.

The project is being delivered in collaboration with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport, Aurecon, and GHD under the Fleurieu Connections Alliance.

In addition to enhancing traffic efficiency, the duplication is expected to support regional growth and boost the local economy through job creation and supplier engagement.
