BioPak announced its support for OzHarvest’s national food relief campaign, ‘Unite to Feed Australia,’ by donating 50,000 meals to help the charity reach its goal of providing an additional 5 million meals to Australians in need.

This effort builds on OzHarvest’s existing efforts, which currently deliver half a million meals each week, BioPak said in a news release.

In line with their longstanding partnership, which has already resulted in over 337,000 meals donated, BioPak will also release a limited edition OzHarvest Christmas cup.

The cups, available across Australia, will feature a QR code allowing coffee drinkers to make donations, with just $5 providing 10 meals to those facing food insecurity.

BioPak’s contribution coincides with OzHarvest’s 20th anniversary, a milestone that highlights two decades of fighting food waste and feeding those in need.

BioPak CEO Gary Smith commended OzHarvest’s critical role in addressing food insecurity and reducing waste, saying, “We are incredibly proud to support and join OzHarvest in their inspiring mission to ‘Unite to Feed Australia.’”

Smith emphasised BioPak’s commitment to driving change through food rescue and composting, adding, “We share OzHarvest’s vision of a world without waste, and for almost two decades, we’ve been dedicated to nourishing communities and ensuring no one goes hungry.”

Meanwhile, Hally Lara, OzHarvest’s head of Impact, expressed gratitude for BioPak’s ongoing support, noting the urgent need for food relief amid rising cost-of-living pressures.

“We are currently facing a hidden crisis here in Australia, with more people than ever experiencing food insecurity due to cost-of-living pressures, many needing help for the first time in their lives. We are so grateful to our partners at BioPak who continually help us to ‘Nourish our County’ and reduce food waste to help protect the planet.”

As part of the fundraising efforts, the ‘Unite to Feed Australia’ campaign will culminate in a concert on 7 November, featuring some of Australia’s most beloved artists, including Courtney Act, Daryl Braithwaite, and Felix Riebl.

All ticket proceeds will go directly to feeding Australians in need.
