Kapture, a leading innovator in carbon capture technology, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PERMAcast, a major player in the concrete industry, to jointly conduct trials aimed at integrating captured CO2 into concrete production.

The collaboration will explore the potential of sequestering carbon dioxide in concrete, a method that could enhance the sustainability of concrete manufacturing, Kapture said in a LinkedIn post.

The trials, set to begin in October 2024, will assess both the feasibility and scalability of using captured CO2 to create low-carbon concrete.

“Our collaboration with Kapture represents a transformative step for the concrete manufacturing industry,” said Darren Hedley, CEO of PERMAcast.

“By integrating captured CO2 into our concrete products, we can improve the material’s strength and significantly reduce our operations’ environmental impact,” the CEO noted.

This partnership is expected to contribute to global climate goals by reducing the construction sector’s carbon footprint.

Kapture and PERMAcast aim to share their findings by the end of the year to encourage broader adoption of low-carbon concrete solutions across the industry.

collaboration added, “This partnership exemplifies the power of industry collaboration in creating sustainable solutions that benefit the environment and the economy.”

According to Kapture, the results from these trials could pave the way for large-scale carbon-sequestering concrete production, aligning with both companies’ shared vision of driving innovation in sustainable construction technologies.
