Finalists announced for 2024 NT Training Awards

The brightest vocational education and training stars of the Northern Territory have been recognised with the announcement of the 2024 NT Training Award finalists.

This year’s awards feature 34 finalists across 12 categories, highlighting the exceptional talent in both individual and business sectors.

Minister for Skills, Training and International Education, Joel Bowden, commended the nominees, emphasising their pivotal role in shaping the Territory’s future.

According to Minister Bowden, “Congratulations to this year’s NT Training Awards finalists. All nominees should be proud of their achievements and contributions to training and education in the Territory.”

The finalists encompass various fields such as engineering, construction, health, and early childhood education, reflecting the breadth of talent emerging from Darwin to Alice Springs.

Minister Bowden underscored the government’s commitment to supporting vocational education, announcing a significant $109 million investment in Budget 2024.

In his words, “Developing a strong local workforce means local businesses can take advantage of new opportunities and support the economic development of the Northern Territory.”

The Awards, now in their 69th year, spotlight the Territory’s top VET students, apprentices, trainers, and employers.

With over 3,770 Territorians currently pursuing apprenticeships or traineeships, and more than 40 Registered Training Organisations delivering vital training, the impact of these initiatives on local industry and employment is substantial.

The NT Training Awards Gala, slated for 31 August 2024, is poised to be a night of celebration and recognition.

Winners from the event will represent the Northern Territory at the prestigious Australian Training Awards in Canberra later in the year.

Reflecting on the importance of these awards, Minister Bowden added, “The Northern Territory Government is investing $109 million in Budget 2024 into vocational education and training to equip Territorians to make the most of future opportunities and support business and industry meet their workforce needs.”

The finalists for the 2024 NT Training Awards include individuals and innovative businesses, each contributing to the Territory’s educational landscape.

From Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year to Vocational Student of the Year, the diversity and excellence among the nominees highlight the robustness of vocational education in the NT.
