Ampcontrol and Siemens have unveiled a strategic partnership aimed at addressing the burgeoning need for battery energy storage and grid applications within Australia’s renewable energy sector.
As part of the agreement, Ampcontrol will serve as the exclusive Australian supplier for solutions tailored to battery energy storage and grid applications, leveraging Siemens’ renowned SINAMICS S120 inverters, Ampcontrol said in a media release.
In particular, these inverters offer virtual synchronous generator functionalities, enhancing system strength and grid stability within the network.
According to Ampcontrol, the collaboration is poised to facilitate increased digitalization, fortify grid resilience, and support Australia’s journey towards achieving net-zero emissions.
Rod Henderson, managing director & CEO of Ampcontrol, expressed admiration for Siemens’ technology and commitment to delivering tailored solutions aligning with industry needs.
He emphasised, “The influx of renewable energy sources in Australia means the greater the challenge for stable and sustainable storage and transmission solutions.”
“Our collaboration with Siemens will ensure that we can deliver these solutions to our customers quicker than we have ever been able to, helping industry to decarbonise and help make net zero a reality,” Henderson noted.
Moreover, the partnership is expected to foster innovation and the development of bespoke solutions to address complex industry challenges.
Ampcontrol’s recent recognition as one of Australia’s top 10 Most Innovative Manufacturers for 2024 further underscores its capacity for driving advancements in the sector.
Darryl Kaufmann, head of Siemens’ Digital Industries Division in Australia and New Zealand, hailed the formalisation of the collaboration, underscoring its timeliness amid the energy transition.
Kaufmann stated, “The new agreement will pair our technological prowess with Ampcontrol’s expertise in designing specific solutions for the renewable energy sector. It’s a win-win for the industry.”
The agreement will enable Ampcontrol to integrate Siemens’ cutting-edge technology with its existing services, thereby delivering enhanced engineering capabilities and advanced Australian manufacturing expertise to customers.
