The Chemistry Australia Industry Awards, hosted at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on Wednesday, 1 May, recognised the top performers in the Australian chemistry industry.
The event, now in its second year, showcased outstanding accomplishments across six distinct award categories, underscoring the profound impact of the chemistry industry on the Australian economy.
Samantha Read, CEO of Chemistry Australia, emphasised the significance of the awards in spotlighting the sector’s invaluable contributions to a sustainable future, lauding the ingenuity and dedication of members.
In her statement, Read hailed the introduction of a novel award recognizing strides in fostering diversity and inclusivity within workplaces, an addition that underscores the industry’s commitment to progress.
“Chemistry Australia is very proud of their achievements, and all of our members who are committed to advancing the health and safety of workers, Australia’s transition to net zero, and the introduction of circular economies,” she remarked.

The winners of the 2024 Chemistry Australia Industry Awards exemplified excellence in their respective fields:
BASF Australia clinched the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award for its comprehensive strategies aimed at cultural transformation and workforce diversity enhancement.
Pacific Urethanes was honoured with the Net Zero Transition award for its remarkable reduction in carbon emissions, setting a commendable example for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Pact Group emerged victorious in the Circular Economy category for its joint venture initiative with Cleanaway, marking a significant milestone in plastic waste recycling.
Incitec Pivot received accolades in the Health, Safety, and Environment category for its exemplary safety record and successful facility decommissioning efforts.
Tamsyn Parker of BOC was recognised as the Young Leader for her outstanding leadership in maintaining workplace safety and driving operational excellence.
Chemistry Australia inducted Peter Bury, director of Circular Economy and Future Industries, into its Hall of Fame.
