Australian yogurt brand Moo Premium Foods has partnered with the Sea World Foundation, dedicating 10 cents from each yogurt tub sold to marine conservation efforts.
With projections estimating donations exceeding $50,000 within three months, this collaboration aims to provide significant support for marine conservation initiatives.
In a media release, both entities said the innovative use of ocean-bound plastics in yogurt tubs and lids represents a groundbreaking shift in the food manufacturing landscape, setting a new standard for environmental responsibility.
Mick Sanders, founder and CEO of Moo Premium Foods expressed his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
He acknowledged the crucial role played by Woolworths, their retail partner, in amplifying the reach of this initiative to Australian consumers.
Sanders stated, “By donating a portion of every yoghurt tub sale, we aim to make a tangible impact and contribute significantly to the Foundations cause.”
The funds generated will also support ongoing research, rescue missions, and conservation activities, reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding marine ecosystems.
Wayne Phillips, head of Marine Sciences at Sea World Foundation, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, recognising its potential to drive meaningful change.
He underscored the alignment of values between Moo Premium Foods and the Foundation, emphasising their joint commitment to environmental responsibility.
“It is wonderful to partner with Moo Premium Foods who share our commitment to environmental responsibility and marine conservation efforts, and we look forward to seeing the partnership rolled out across Woolworths stores,” Phillips noted.
To commemorate the launch of the partnership, Moo Premium Foods is hosting a competition offering a family of four the chance to win the ultimate getaway.
With prizes including return airfares to the Gold Coast, a five-night stay at the Sea World Resort, and immersive experiences at Sea World and Village Roadshow Theme Parks, this competition encourages engagement and support for marine conservation efforts.
