GenusPlus Group Ltd, a national provider of essential power and communications infrastructure, has secured a contract from ACCIONA Energia to undertake the design and construction of substation works for the Aldoga Solar Farm development in Queensland.
The Aldoga Solar Farm, along with its accompanying 275kV Substation, represents a significant renewable energy initiative aligned with Queensland’s objective to boost renewable energy supply, create employment opportunities, and foster economic growth, the company said in an ASX announcement.
Situated approximately 20 kilometres northwest of Gladstone in Central Queensland, the project is poised to play a crucial role in advancing the state’s ambition of achieving 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030.
Under the terms of the contract, ACCIONA Energia will oversee the development, ownership, and operation of the Aldoga Solar Farm and 275kV Substation, while Genus will be responsible for detailed design, procurement, installation, and associated civil works for the new Substation.
The contract, valued at approximately $40 million, is slated for completion over a 12-month period in 2024.
With a commitment to leveraging local resources, Genus plans to engage around 70 personnel, tapping into regional Queensland’s talent pool to drive the project forward.
