Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ) announced the appointment of Paul Cooper as the new Chair of the Board, alongside the addition of two new directors, Stacey Schinnerl of the Australian Workers’ Union Queensland, and Sheree Taylor of BlueScope Steel Queensland.
With over 25 years of extensive experience in various board positions internationally and in Australia, Paul Cooper, the current chairman at Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre Ltd, brings a wealth of knowledge to MSQ.
His leadership roles include chair of Audit and Risk Committees, deputy chair of the Export Council of Australia Ltd, and current ownership of Rinstrum, an industrial electronics manufacturing company.
The new appointments aim to enhance MSQ’s capabilities in building a future-proofed and skilled manufacturing workforce in Queensland, MSQ said in a press release.
In his role as Chair of the Board, Paul Cooper expressed his honour and enthusiasm for guiding MSQ’s vision towards developing a highly skilled workforce critical for the future growth of Queensland’s manufacturing industry.
“With a deep understanding of governance and strategy, I look forward to guiding MSQ’s vision to build a sustainably skilled workforce,” Cooper said.
He added, “I am grateful for the opportunity to support Queenslanders to get the skills needed for emerging and traditional industries, ready to embrace new and emerging technologies and respond to economic opportunities or challenges.”
CEO of MSQ Rebecca Andrews welcomed the new appointments, stating that Cooper, Schinnerl, and Taylor bring additional expertise in manufacturing, skills development, and governance.
“This diverse and experienced board will continue to bring strong strategic leadership and governance to MSQ, providing clear guidance to not only ensure the future success of the organisation but also the future success of the industry,” she remarked.
Andrews also expressed gratitude to outgoing board members, acknowledging their contributions to MSQ during its foundation year.
“I look forward to working with our Board as we deliver for the state’s manufacturing industry,” Andrews noted.
