The South Australian Government has honoured the state’s leading food and beverage manufacturers at the recent SA Premier’s Food and Beverage Industry Awards.
Held over the weekend, the awards ceremony has awarded 25 F&B businesses across 15 categories.
Mount Barker-based Beerenberg and Edwardstown’s Kytons Bakery clinched the public-voted Consumer Award.
La Casa Del Formaggio, a family-owned cheesemaker in Edinburgh, was inducted into the Hall of Fame for its significant and sustained contribution to the food and beverage sector over many years.
Forestville honey producer Pure Origin secured the Department for Trade and Investment-sponsored export award for businesses with up to 15 full-time employees (FTE). Meanwhile, Riverland-based Almondco Australia won the award in the category for more than 15 FTEs.
Almonds recently won the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages category award in South Australian Premier’s Business Export Awards, which was announced in September.
“South Australia is the proud home of iconic food and beverage products and brands adored by local and international consumers alike. Our world-leading products demonstrate the industry’s commitment to innovation and responding to global trends,” said Minister for Trade and Investment Nick Champion.
“This commitment is why South Australia continues to be internationally recognised as a reliable, safe and sustainable producer and exporter of premium, value-added food and beverages,” he added.
The food and beverage industry represents South Australia’s largest manufacturing sector, having generated more than $21.8 billion in gross food revenue, including $12.7 billion in retail and food service sales in 20021/22.
“These awards are about recognising this important sector, which delivers jobs and drives strong regional economies,” said Premier Peter Malinauskas.
