Tasmania’s defence industry and advanced manufacturing capabilities will soon be showcased at one of the world’s largest security and defence expos as the state spearheads an international trade mission to the United Kingdom.
The mission, led by Premier Jeremy Rockliff with Tasmania’s Defence Advocate Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore and Coordinator General John Perry, will focus on establishing connections with key international partners and securing new opportunities for Tasmania’s defence supply and advanced manufacturing industries.
Defence Security Equipment International, which will be held from 12 to 15 September in London, will feature over 2,800 suppliers and buyers from around the world and will provide Tasmanian businesses with the chance to showcase their capabilities to leaders from military, government, and industry, Premier Rockliff said.
Local companies included in the delegation are AERIUS Marine, the Australian Maritime College, CBG Systems, Currawong Engineering, Liferaft Systems Australia, Muir Engineering and Pivot Maritime International. Fortifyedge will also participate in the expo to look at opportunities in the security sector.
“Tasmanian businesses are leading the world with their solutions. The more Tasmanian companies that get involved in the defence supply sector, the more it increases the visibility of our capabilities and products, and the more contracts it promises to attract,” said Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries Madeleine Ogilvie.
The Tasmanian delegation will also meet with major defence and advanced manufacturing companies such as Ocean Infinity, Thales UK, L3Harris, QinetiQ, Collins Aerospace, and Hanwha.
“Our participation at the Defence and Security Equipment International, underscores our commitment to international collaboration, innovation and the sophistication and strength of our defence supply sector,” Premier Rockliff said.
