The 2023 QuantumTX METS, Space and Defence incubator program is celebrating its midway mark with showcase events at technology and robotics hubs in Sydney and Brisbane after awarding $1 million in assistance to 40 start-ups and small-to-medium businesses across Australia.
The program, led by METS Ignited and Atomic Sky, allows Australian companies to scale key technologies such as remote operations, robotics, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, satellite communications, digital systems and interoperability.
METS Ignited is a significant partner of the QuantumTX incubation initiative since it gives commercial assistance to Australian entrepreneurs in order for them to acquire expertise and scale across numerous sectors, as revealed in a press release.
According to Adrian Beer, CEO of METS Ignited, assisting Australian enterprises in commercialising technology will expand local businesses and generate employment for the benefit of all sectors.
“The program allows innovators to understand the commercial pathways for technology adoption as businesses scale up, which is one of the best ways to increase national competitiveness,” Beer said.
He stated that late-stage researchers are also urged to participate and think about how they could successfully commercialise with industry support.
“With prominent companies in all major industry sectors, the program is beneficial for those looking to achieve commercial scale,” Beer added.
Ad Prof Rossdeutscher, founder of QuantumTX and First Nations X, said QuantumTX offers particular assistance to firms concentrating on decarbonisation and net zero innovation, as well as regional competence building and increasing diversity in innovation ecosystems.
“The QuantumTX incubator program is a key enabler of many of those innovative solutions from multiple industries,” he said.
According to him, QuantumTX is boosting investment in the commercialisation of research and development by optimising industrial operations, developing energy technologies, enhancing operational efficiency, and producing new sustainable materials.
Melbourne-based 3ME Technologies is one of the program’s members, with CEO Justin Bain saying that 3ME Technologies develops, supplies, and supports safe, energy-dense lithium-ion battery and electric vehicle systems for demanding industries such as mining and military.

The QuantumTX program is run in collaboration with METS Ignited, with financing from the Queensland Government, Western Australian Government, Atomic Sky, the Australian Government, and AROSE (Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth).
