UltiMaker has launched its new 3D printing solution dubbed Method XL intended for engineering applications – offering precision printing with industrial-grade materials – without compromising on part size.

In a press release, UltiMaker describes it as bridging the gap between desktop and industrial 3D printers due to its accessibility and affordability in addition to industrial performance.

The company detailed that the Method XL 3D printer has a build volume of 305 x 305 x 320 mm and is designed to print large, complex parts in engineering-grade materials such as ABS-R and ABS Carbon Fibre.

The 3D printing firm said the solution’s heated chamber, which can achieve temperatures of up to 100°C, is intended to provide ideal results when printing with ABS, one of the most popular and difficult materials to print on a desktop 3D printer due to its inclination to twist and distort.

The heated build plate, which is new to the Method series, can be a benefit for clients who desire an extra degree of security to avoid warping and layer adhesion concerns.

UltiMaker emphasised that the heated build plate and temperature-controlled heated build chamber work together to create a stable environment for printing precise and sturdy objects of any size.

Nadav Goshen, the CEO of UltiMaker, stated that the company’s goal is to increase the use of 3D printing in manufacturing.

“We saw that there was a lack of production-level industrial capabilities in more accessible and easy-to-use 3D printers,” he said.

Goshen also underscored that Method XL is a terrific option for people wishing to advance their 3D printing because it allows users to print larger pieces, increasing output and efficiency.

Method XL syncs directly with CloudPrint software for a seamless CAD file to printed component process, enabling clients to effortlessly upload, monitor, and track their print jobs from a web browser, the company said.

For safer indoor 3D printing, UltiMaker said the printer has a HEPA filter and an activated carbon filter.
