Minister for Manufacturing Sovereignty Ben Carroll announced the opening of nominations for the 21st Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards, the state’s largest celebration of Victoria’s leading manufacturers.
A total of 15 categories are accepting nominations, including “Young Manufacturer of the Year,” “Women Manufacturer of the Year,” and “Honor Roll for Services to Industry.”
The Manufacturing Apprentice Award, Regional Manufacturer Award, Leader in Defence, Aerospace and Space, Rolling Stock and Transport, and Leader in Zero and Low Emissions Technology are among the nine new prizes that have been established this year, according to a media release by the Andrews Labor Government.
With over 100 nominations and 770 industry visitors present, the government said the 2022 awards confirmed their position as Victoria’s manufacturing event and saw Integra Systems of Broadmeadows be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Through a number of initiatives, such as the Breakthrough Victoria Fund, the Manufacturing Industry and Development Fund, the Australian Medtech Manufacturing Centre, and the Low Carbon Manufacturing Grant Program, the Labor Government said it is establishing a robust and resilient manufacturing sector in the state.
This is described in the Government’s Made in Victoria 2030: Manufacturing Declaration, which outlines its priorities for fostering Victoria’s domestic manufacturing sector, luring foreign investment and generating new jobs.
The Andrews Labor Government emphasised that Victoria’s $31 billion manufacturing industry is made up of more than 23,000 businesses, employing more than 260,000 people – providing around 30 per cent of Australia’s manufacturing output.
“The awards recognise our top manufacturers that are leading from the front – cementing our status as Australia’s manufacturing state,” Minister Carroll said.
“We’ll continue to back our manufacturers so they can create more local jobs, drive innovation and power our economy – ensuring more products are made in Victoria,” Carroll added.
Established in 2001, the awards recognise individuals and companies that embrace new technologies, excel in business innovation, drive exports, and boost the state’s economy.
Nominations for the awards close on Friday, 31 March and winners will be announced at the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Gala Dinner this winter.
